President Richard M. Nixon was born in Yorba Linda, California. Nixon was the 37th President of the United States and the 35th Vice President of the United States. Nixon was elected President two terms and served from 1969 to 1974. The Apollo 11 Moon landing, the establishment of the Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration happened while he was the President. Nixon was a commander in the second World War and earned many Medals.
President Nixon often spoke fondly of his upbringing in Yorba Linda. He called Yorba Linda "a land of gracious living" and this became the Cities motto. In 1988, President Nixon visited the home that he grew up in and asked the current owners at the time to come in and look around, Nixon had a fun and emotional time doing this.
In 1990, the home that President Nixon's father built from a Sears Catalog, was restored and is part of the .9 acre Campus known as the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum.

In Nixon's final years of life he connected his life journey back to his birthplace in Yorba Linda, Ca. Following his death in 1994, he was buried on the grounds of his Yorba Linda Library alongside his wife, Pat.
